A finish...woohooo

I finished Beneath the Sunlight Sky and I love how it turned out. I played around with a few of the colors and substituted WDW and GAST for Crescent Colours. It's stitched on 28 count bone lugana. Close up pictures of my piece can be seen on my blog.

Hi! I'm New to this Blog!

My name is Carol, I live in PA and have been stitching for about 30 years. Here is my latest Blackbird Designs finish - I converted the fibers to Vikke Clayton silks (I changed a few too) and am very pleased with the results....I am also fixated on beaded edges right now so this, of course, had to have a beaded edge too! Thanks for looking.

Hello from Alabama

Thank you Sue for starting this wonderful blog and hello to you all, I'm very happy to be here :-)

I'm currently working on the last chart of the Loose Feathers mystery sampler. I'm loving all the colors!

Thanks for the invite and acceptance.

The first three of many...

I just got these back from my finisher on Saturday. I am so excited about how cute they turned out that I have been stitching like crazy! Just three more to stitch then I will be all caught up. Hopefully the April leaflet will be out soon. I am so anxious to see what these will all look like! They are so much fun to stitch. These little pretties may need their own little tree or, they might be hung on a garland near the tree. I have not decided yet.
Have a great day!

ABC Pincushion

Seeing Julie's pillow I just think I forgot to show mine early.
So, here is a pic about my ABC pincushion.
I made it for a dear friend last year.

ABC Pincushion

This is my first contribution to the Blackbird Design blog. This was the first pincushion pillow I stitched and finished. I was really pleased with how it turned out and I was even more delighted over my finishing fabric choice. I changed the called-for thread to CC Waterlilies Kelp and I changed Sarah Tobias to my own name to personalize it.

I added my own embellishments. The lacey material is a piece I cut from an old tablecloth. I coffee dyed it for age and fastened it with pins and bone buttons.

My next BBD project is going to be one from My Heart Is True. I so fell in love with this the moment I saw it. I just love those little dainty projects where I get to use my finishing fabrics.

Blackbird's Reproductions

Thank you so much to Sue for the invite to join this fun group of stitchers, devoted fans of such wonderful designs. I am sure that I'm like a lot of you, with some samplers already stitched and plans for loads and loads more! And now the stockings, and the smalls... Barb and Alma are so talented!

Well, adaptations of old samplers or straight repros... either one... they are among my favorite things to stitch. I figured I'd post two of my favorite BBDs. First up is Sarah Tobias, which I stitched on a fabulously blotchy piece of Silkweaver's 40 ct Purely Primitive linen, using the suggested threads:

I think my absolute most favorite BBD of all, though, is Birds of a Feather. Needlepoint Inc Silks are my favorite fiber to work with, I love red, I love to stitch birds... it was just a fun, enjoyable stitch. I used the suggested NPI silks on 32 ct Olde Town Blend for my Birds of a Feather:

The picture is a bit darker than in real life.

Take care, everybody! Siobhan

My current Blackbirds

After 3 days of constant rain we had a reprieve today, the sun finally made an appearance. I was able to take some pictures of my BBD WIPs after I got home this afternoon.

First up is Easter Parade. I hope to finish this as a pillow.

Second is Quaker Garden. I am stitching this as a SAL with Quaker Inspired Blog. I am a little behind but, I am happy with my progress so far.

My third piece Where My Heart Blooms is the closest to completion. I am very excited to have made it this far on this one. I can hardly wait to have another finish.

Finished At Last

Happy St. Patty's Day to all of you. It has been very pleasant in Oklahoma today, even a tad warm and that is just fine.

I finished my baby blanket and now have started on a new one for one of our teachers at school. We are going to Texas tomorrow so the needles will fly as I listen to books on tape.

I met my friend Becky at our local Braums Ice Cream Shoppe and we had fresh coffee and a dip of the good cool stuff. It's getting to be that time of year.

We took the babies to the groomer today and they get to spend a couple of nights with their Grandma Lynn. They love her and she loves them.

We had our yearly meal of corned beef and cabbage and it was very yummy. That will last me for a year.

Thank you for stopping by and may the winds be at your back.

Sweetheart Sampler

Hi Everyone~
This is my first time posting here but I have been visiting and enjoying seeing all the scrumptious Blackbird pieces.

I just finished up Sweetheart Sampler (I know, I'm sorry, its a month late :-). What fun this one was to work on, I thoroughly enjoyed stitching it. I used the recommended fabric, 30 ct Kansas City Blend by R&R Reproductions, but I found the larger alphabet too chunky for me, so I switched to stitching over-1 and I'm so much happier with it.
I also finished up a couple of pincushions too!

spring fling

Thanks to Sue for the invite to join! I love Blackbird Designs and have stitched so many of their designs :-) I'll share my most recent finish for now and try to post some others in the near future. Really looking forward to seeing every one's beautiful stitching!

This is Spring Fling, which was in the Loose Feathers series....

stitched on 30 ct. Glen Ellyn blend over two with recommended threads. The fabric is much greener in person, but it works ;-)

Sweetheart Sampler. 30 ct White Permin linen, GAST thread. Size - 8 x 13 cm

Hello, my name is Vaida and I'm from Lithuania. My first two Blackbird designs are rather small, but anyway, I liked to stitch them and they will not be the last ones :). I'm planning to stitch more of these cute stockings, a mystery, and more and more and more....
Happy stitching to everyone!

Two works, a WIP and introduction

Hello stitchers,
a friend of mine has just shown me this blog... the request to join has followed suddenly, and I thank you Susan for having accept my request.
I've fallen in love with Blackbird Designs the first time I've seen their book "With Needle and Thread": then, I've founded a Quaker Inspired blog and launched a SAL with "My Quaker House" theme.
That's my really first Blackbird piece:
Then I stitched that delicious Christmas pattern, House on Holly:

My third Blackbird piece is still a WIP, during a SAL on the Quaker Inspired blog with the theme "Quaker Blackbird patterns". I've chosen Rites of Spring, and I'm having so much fun also changing the original colours:

Everyone has such beautiful stitching...can't wait to see more. Happy Stitches...

Quaker Garden

He is my porgress on Quaker Garden after many frogs I do believe I am back on track with this piece. Lets just hope I do not run out of floss
Natasha

Garden of Life

Stitched on 40ct cream linen and used 1 strand of the recommended colour threads.

My gift to you

Photobucket

'My Gift to You' I have adapted it a little as I wanted to make a small stitchers pocket. I have stitched it 1/1 on 28ct linen and I used the recommended thread colours and all the finishing I did by hand as it was too small for me to use the sewing machine.

Photobucket

This is the back of the pocket and I used the background pattern of the design and changed the outer border slightly.

Photobucket

This is the inside of the pocket where I added intials and the year of the exchange this was for, again I adapted the outer border a little. Its lined with a pretty MODA fabric I had in my stash.

Pumpkin Blossom

Pumpkin Blossom. I have finished it how it was suggested by the designers into a needlebook.

The fabric I used to stitch it is called Autumn Leaves and I'm almost positive its by Sugar Maple Fabrics (I lost the label). I used the recommended threads and some Mill Hill beads.

Its closed using some copper silk ribbon I found in my stash, and the fabric lining the inside is by Blackbird Designs
