Overdue Update

It seems that I have been remiss in posting to this blog. Since my last post I finished the stitching on Easter Parade, 2 stockings and the Petites Lettres Rouges sampler.

It is great to see all the finishes here. I don't get to all of the blogs to leave a comment, but your work is really an inspiration. Happy stitching to you all.

Pétites Lettres Rouges

My version of this wonderful sampler. I wanted something soft, not actually red, and my version is stitched with Mulberry from Caron Waterlillies. It's dedicated to my eldest daughter and her second victory in chess championship for girls.

Petites Lettres Rouges

We all have favourite books. One of my favourites - the book, which belonged to my grandparents - my mother's schoolbook. It's a Lithuanian literature book for 5. grade. Quite symbolical, that the year of publishing is 1936, the year my mother was born. The title of the book is "Sakalelis" (Little falcon), so it was a pleasure to me to stitch this title and three birds. I hope ar least one of them is a real falcon. I also stitch the year of publishing - 1936. I had the idea for finishing from the very start - it will be a cover for this book. I tried to make the sampler as vintage as I could, and I hope I succeeded... My choice of linen 30 ct WDW linen Natural/Straw, floss - GAST Mulberry, Rhubarb, Crescent Colors - Chili Pepper and Madeira 031432

Petites Lettres Rouges

Petites Lettres Rouges
c Blackbird Designs 2009

I used 32-count linen & DMC floss 814, 815, 816
The bird motif is from the Loose Feathers Pattern #14, Summer House

I stitched my paternal grandmother's name (Adeline Tomm) on this sampler. She was born May 4, 1897
I found my grandparent's wedding picture (picture here). My grandmother had red hair and blue eyes. She lived in Pennsylvania all her life. I haven't decided on finishing ...

I have enjoyed seeing all the samplers & reading the posts!

my Little Blue Sampler

Here is my version of the little "red" sampler - I stitched it up last weekend -

I included my grand parents initials and the year they were married.
I used a variety of over dyed floss' on 36ct linen. It is a great little piece to stitch up!!
